Besides the beach on our point that you can hike to, there are numerous beaches north and south of us, all having their own unique personality and advantages. Some are miles long, others are small and crescent-shaped. There are swimming beaches, surfing beaches, shell-collecting beaches. Beaches with caves, mangroves, waterfalls, fresh stream outlets. The Whale’s Tail has an excellent beach for youngsters- it’s shallow, gentle and sand only. Discover a new beach every day or go back to one of your favorites!7. The Dominical Area
Being located on the Central Pacific coast has gifted us with the perfect balance between the lushness of southern Costa Rica (without the lengthy rains) and the sunshine of northern Costa Rica (without the dry, hot and dusty conditions that are prevalent there). The weather is great here year round and there is plenty to do without the “touristy” feel. Known for surfing, nature and numerous outdoor activities, this area has something for everyone. There are plenty of international and local dining options as well as shopping and banks.

Excellently situated with respect to the view and just three steps from the villa, the 25’ long cascading infinity-edge and turquoise tile makes you believe that you are part of the oceanscape. Our tropical climate means the pool is usable 24 hours a day, 365 days a year! Turn the lights off, lounge in a float and watch the abundant stars at night. One of our most common guest comments is that they rarely got out of the pool!
4. The Wildlife
The property attracts many different types of wildlife, many of which you have never seen in the wild. Also, don’t be surprised if the Costa Rican air force does a fly-by along the coastline - squadrons of migrating pelicans in formation glide by at pool level. Typical day at Flying Toucans - a group of Howler monkeys on one side of the house and a group of White-faced Capuchin monkeys on the other - at the same time! Not to mention Tarzan, our residential sloth and the numerous toucans flying just feet above the pool.5. The Location
Within 200 meters of the shore and about 150 feet in elevation, we are one of the closest to the water of any luxury vacation home rentals in the area. Hear the ocean, watch the moon rise over the bay and see the occasional whales and dolphins from the home without needing binoculars. Level and well-maintained roads ensure quick, stress-free access to Flying Toucans. We are just a minute from the main road, making it easy to come and go as often as you wish. Mountainside access roads can be quite time- consuming and a challenge if dark or wet.
